Podemos has presented a series of proposals within the framework of the negotiations to elect the new president and the Congressional Board with which “to draw the plurinational and democratic majority that can allow the revalidation of the coalition government”, as formulated by the Secretary of Organization , Lilith Vestrynge.

The most striking, although not new, has been to remove the paintings and busts of Juan Carlos I from their public display in the corridors of the Lower House. This is an idea that had been hanging around in the purple ranks since last March, when its former spokesman in Congress, Pablo Echenique, expressed that they wanted to eliminate the paintings, busts and photographs of the emeritus monarch because “he is a criminal”.

In addition to this proposal, Vestrynge has said that his political force – five deputies within Sumar’s parliamentary group – will not grant press accreditation to “so-called media” that spread lies and hate speech. A key point in the speech of the formation led by Ione Belarra. In this sense, the signaling is not new either. It was last April when Podemos released a video in which it labeled journalists and specific media as “servants”: “This is a message for you, who feel angry when you listen to Ana Rosa on television at the hairdresser and do not shut up and You say in front of everyone that that lady is a scoundrel. This is a message for you, that you are a taxi driver and if a client asks you to put on the Cope, do not shut up and say no, because you remember who defended you against Uber”.

The Secretary for Organization has also not avoided highlighting one of the star measures that Sumar, as a group, wants to carry out during the next legislature: reforming the regulations so that the Upper House can speak in its own and co-official languages.

With regard to the legislative proposals, he mentioned that his formation wants to prohibit the indefinite extension of the period of partial amendments that has paralyzed “constantly so many laws”, among which he has included mental health, official secrets or the THE A.

Finally, and involving his colleagues in the chamber, he has indicated that his team wants to punish those deputies who refuse to provide transparent information regarding their assets, income, incompatibilities or economic interests in an exemplary manner. This is an idea that has been given more voice as a result of the controversy that arose with the income of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
