Bengal MSMEs are finding new opportunities to expand their businesses internationally thanks to Amazon’s Export Program. This year, around 3,500 traders from West Bengal’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector have joined Amazon Global Selling. This program opens doors to international markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany for these traders.
The exporters participating in this program come from various districts in West Bengal, including Kolkata, South and North 24 Parganas, Burdwan, Howrah, Hooghly, and Darjeeling. They are primarily involved in exporting textiles, home appliances, kitchen products, luggage, footwear, and lawn and garden-related items.
Bhupen Wakankar, Amazon India’s Director of Global Trade, highlighted the importance of technology in simplifying e-commerce exports for MSMEs not only in Bengal but across India. According to Wakankar, Amazon Global Selling is playing a crucial role in empowering exporters to connect with customers worldwide. The company is continuously investing in tools and technologies to help sellers expand their reach, improve product discovery, and boost sales.
Amazon has set a significant goal of facilitating USD 20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2025. This initiative is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to use technology to support small and medium-sized businesses in growing their global presence.
Expanding internationally through platforms like Amazon Global Selling can bring numerous benefits to MSMEs. By tapping into global markets, these businesses can access a larger customer base, diversify their revenue streams, and enhance their brand recognition on a global scale. Additionally, participating in international trade can lead to valuable networking opportunities, increased competitiveness, and exposure to new trends and technologies in the global marketplace.
For Bengal MSMEs looking to boost their international sales, enrolling in programs like Amazon Global Selling can be a game-changer. With the right strategies, support, and dedication, these businesses can successfully navigate the complexities of international trade and take their products to customers around the world. As technology continues to advance and connect businesses globally, the opportunities for MSMEs to thrive in the international market are more accessible than ever before.
