About four years after the introduction of the second CLA generation, Mercedes is now introducing a facelift. In addition to optical and technical innovations, it brings better equipment.

Like the sister models A- and B-Class, the Mercedes CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake series are now also getting a small facelift. External distinguishing features are a modified radiator grille look and front apron as well as a sportier-looking rear diffuser. There are also two new exterior paint finishes in blue and new rim types to choose from.

The extended standard equipment of the CLA basis includes 17-inch wheels, high-beam assistant, reversing camera, USB package, nappa leather steering wheel and comfort seats covered with a black fabric/leatherette mix. The Progressive equipment has been expanded to include a parking and mirror package and, with the Shooting Brake, an electric tailgate.

As before, the CLA has a cockpit with two displays. The one behind the steering wheel is available in 7 or 10.25 inch format, the central touchscreen is now 10.25 inches in size. The display offers the three newly designed styles “Classic”, “Sporty”, “Understated”. The MBUX infotainment system, which is installed in the latest edition in the facelifted CLA, is controlled via the right-hand touchscreen. With the activation of online services of the “Mercedes me” app, the language assistant should be able to communicate and learn and explain vehicle functions.

The petrol engines, which deliver between 100 kW/136 hp and 165 kW/225 hp, will in future be supported by a 10 kW/14 hp starter generator. All engine variants are exclusively combined with automatic transmissions.

In the case of the 250e plug-in hybrid version, the increase in usable energy content means that the electric range has increased slightly to 82 kilometers. The electric motor has been strengthened by 5 kW/7 hp to 80 kW/109 hp. Nevertheless, the top speed of the 250e was reduced by a few points to 229 or 226 km/h (shooting brake).

Charging, on the other hand, will be possible with up to 11 kW and thus faster than before. Alternatively, as before, three diesels are available with 85 kW/116 hp, 110 kW/150 hp and 140 kW/190 hp.

The AMG variants 35 and 45 S, which have unchanged 225 kW/306 hp and 310 kW/421 hp respectively, have also been optically refreshed in several points on the outside and inside Brake calipers, performance seats and orange accents on the inside as well as aerodynamic and night packages I/II.

Orders for the modified CLA will start shortly. The prices will probably start beyond 35,000 euros.
