Denodo recently announced the launch of Denodo Platform 9.1, which brings advanced AI capabilities and improved performance for data lakehouses. Building on the features introduced in Denodo Platform 9, this latest release focuses on enhancing data management with AI-powered support, including natural-language queries and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to help organizations gain valuable insights from their generative AI applications.
One of the key additions in Denodo Platform 9.1 is the introduction of the AI-powered Denodo Assistant. This tool leverages the platform’s semantic layer to automate tasks and provide context-aware insights and recommendations to data analysts and other business users. Some of the new features of Denodo Assistant include Query Wizard Recommendations, Intelligent Query Autocompletion, and a Data Preparation Wizard, which streamline data processes and offer customization options with minimal input from data teams.
Lukas Reinauer, a Data Engineer at Festo, shared his positive experience with Denodo Platform 9.1, emphasizing how it has facilitated the integration of structured and unstructured data for key GenAI initiatives like FestoGPT and Skillground. The platform’s metadata-driven approach has enabled employees to access and analyze data more efficiently, driving innovation and delivering meaningful insights across the organization.
In addition to Denodo Assistant, Denodo has introduced the Denodo AI SDK, an open-source toolkit designed to accelerate the development of AI-powered applications, particularly those utilizing RAG. This SDK aims to improve the accuracy and performance of GenAI models by integrating structured and unstructured data seamlessly.
Alberto Pan, Chief Technology Officer at Denodo, highlighted the company’s focus on addressing the challenges organizations face in realizing business value from AI. By supporting RAG and offering the AI SDK as an open-source tool, Denodo aims to empower more developers to create advanced AI applications and drive innovation in the industry.
Beyond its AI enhancements, Denodo Platform 9.1 also strengthens data lakehouses’ capabilities by improving support for Iceberg and Delta table formats, enhancing integration with cloud environments like Microsoft Fabric and OneLake, and introducing features like Advanced Iceberg Support, Improved Microsoft Fabric and OneLake Support, and Arrow Flight SQL for high-performance data transfer in cloud ecosystems.
Mark Thorogood, Director of Data Operations and Software Engineering at Perkins Coie, praised Denodo’s Gen AI capability for simplifying data access and interaction through natural language, removing technical barriers and driving data democratization. Denodo’s continuous innovation in AI and data management is paving the way for organizations to harness the power of data and AI technologies effectively.
