In the current year, it is likely that fewer strawberries have been harvested in Germany than in 24 years. Based on representative preliminary surveys, the Federal Statistical Office expects a quantity of 91,300 tons of open-air fruit. That would be the lowest harvest since 1998, when 81,500 tons were picked, the agency reports.
