The company has partnered with Indian shipbuilder Goa Shipyard for the construction of this innovative vessel. The new TSHD is specifically designed to operate in small harbors and will be the smallest in Jan De Nul Group’s hopper fleet, with a hopper capacity of 2,000 cubic meters.

This new vessel, with a hull length of 79 meters, is equipped with ULEv-technology (Ultra Low Emission vessel) and is a DC hybrid plug-in, making it highly innovative and environmentally friendly. According to Jan Van De Velde, Director New Building at Jan De Nul Group, this small hopper has big capabilities and is tailor-made to perform in small harbors. It is agile, flexible, and aims to reduce the company’s carbon footprint significantly.

The contract for the construction of this vessel includes the option to build a second sister vessel, with a delivery period of 24 months for the first ship. Jan De Nul Group is committed to sustainability and sees this new vessel as a valuable addition to its versatile fleet. The vessel is custom-made to operate in small harbors located in highly populated areas, such as marinas. It is designed to be highly maneuverable, emit very low emissions, and operate quietly.
