The vice president of the CEOE, Lorenzo Amor, has been in favor of withdrawing public aid for those people who reject a job with working conditions and agreed wages.

“It is not logical” for a person to continue receiving aid if they have rejected a job, added the also president of the National Federation of Self-Employed Workers Associations (ATA), during the presentation of the barometer prepared by the organization.

This idea was already raised by the general secretary of the UGT, Pepe Álvarez, and Amor has said that he “agrees”, although at the time he was rejected by the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, and the general secretary of Comisiones Obreras, Unai Sordo.

In his opinion, it is “important” to make the collection of this type of aid compatible with the performance of a job, as occurs in the Nordic countries, something that would help many people to enter the labor market, through a part-time job, for example.

Another consequence, according to Amor, is that the underground economy would be reduced, because many people who receive certain aid choose to work without a contract so as not to lose it.

On collective bargaining, he has insisted that from the CEOE there is a will to sit down “to talk” and reach an agreement, and for this reason they are going to put “all the meat on the grill”, because they are “aware that wages have to go up,” said Amor.

“We have to seek that understanding between the two parties”, but the also president of ATA has insisted on “the importance” of there being no political pressure or of any kind. “If they let us work, there will be an agreement”, he has sentenced.

Employers and unions will hold -predictably this week- a meeting with the unions for a new agreement for employment and collective bargaining (AENC).
