The British music producer Martin Birch, who was through his work with Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and other rock bands famous, has died at the age of seventy-one years. The musicians, David Coverdale announced on Sunday. “With a heavy heart, I just got confirmed that my dear friend and producer Martin Birch has died,” wrote Coverdale on Twitter. The singer had collaborated in his time with Deep Purple and then as the front man of the Band Whitesnake with Birch. The cause of death, Coverdale made no disclosures.

The 1948 in Surrey-born Birch signed on as a producer and sound engineer, especially in the seventies and eighties for a number of successful albums responsible. Including rock and Heavy Metal will find classics such as “Deep Purple in Rock” by Deep Purple, “Long Live Rock’n’Roll” by Rainbow, “Heaven and Hell” by Black Sabbath and “The Number of The Beast” by Iron Maiden.

Already in the sixties, Birch for Fleetwood Mac had been sitting at the mixing console. Also Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, and the former Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker used the services of sound professionals. After the Album “Fear of the Dark”, his tenth with the group Iron Maiden, pulled back Birch in 1992 from the music business.
