While the first Scenic, launched in 1996, democratized the concept of the minivan, the one that will arrive in dealerships in the spring of 2024 proposes to reinvent the compact family car around a 100% electric traction chain.

Developed on an enlarged version of the CMF-EV platform already used by the Megane E-Tech, the new Scenic is 4.47m long, 1.86m wide and 1.57m high. It relies on spaciousness with a wheelbase stretched from 10 cm to 2.78 m, guaranteeing rear passengers legroom worthy of a limousine, while a panoramic glass roof, the surface of which can be made opaque in segments, accentuates the feeling of space. If the modularity that made the reputation of previous generations is obviously no longer in the specifications of the model, which is now content with a fixed bench, the practicality is not forgotten with a 545 l trunk. This load volume can even be increased to 1,670 l by folding down the bench seat.

In terms of styling, the new Scenic is distinguished by a dynamic profile, accentuated by a long bonnet and large wheels, mounted on 19 or 20 inch rims depending on the trim level. Two battery capacities are available, 60 or 87 kWh for respective ranges of 420 or 620 km. These batteries, integrated into the floor as was already the case for the Mégane E-Tech, power wound rotor electric motors (without permanent magnet and therefore without rare earth) driving in both cases only the front wheels. These engines are manufactured in France, in the historic Renault plant in Cléon. The 60 kWh version develops 170 hp, while the 87 kWh has 220 hp.

The Scenic can optionally carry a 22 kW charger for full recharges in three to four hours on a suitable wallbox. The charging power can even reach 150 kW on a direct current terminal thanks to a preconditioning of the battery which must be anticipated by programming the charging in the navigation system. It will thus be possible to restore 200 to 250 km of range in thirty minutes of charging. The new Scenic will be assembled in France, at the Douai plant, and will arrive in dealerships next March. Its prices have not yet been announced.
