Volkswagen has officially launched its new electric vehicle, the 2025 ID. Buzz, in the U.S. market. This electric van comes with classic VW styling and is set to hit dealer showrooms next month. The starting price for the rear-wheel-drive model is $61,545, while the all-wheel-drive model starts at $69,545. Despite the relatively high price, the base Pro S model is well-equipped, offering either 282 horsepower (RWD) or 335 horsepower (AWD) and a range of 234 miles (RWD) or 231 miles (AWD).
The ID. Buzz Pro S comes with a range of impressive standard features, including three rows of seating with a 7-passenger capacity, 20-inch wheels, dual power-sliding side doors, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and three-zone climate control. Moving up to the Pro S Plus or the 1st Edition adds even more features like a premium audio system, a head-up display, and a panoramic glass roof.
While the ID. Buzz may not offer as much value in terms of range compared to other electric vehicles, it excels in other areas. The boxy design of the van provides ample cargo volume and interior space, making it roomier and easier to maneuver than competing models. The van’s acceleration and handling also make it a fun and engaging drive.
In terms of technology, the ID. Buzz is packed with features such as a large central touchscreen, digital gauge cluster, wireless connectivity, interior ambient lighting, USB-C ports, and a full suite of driver-assist technology. High-tech options like a head-up display and a 360-degree camera further enhance the driving experience.
Despite the high entry price and modest range, the ID. Buzz is expected to generate strong demand upon its release. The combination of its stylish design, functionality, driving dynamics, and technology features are likely to attract buyers, ensuring continued interest in the model. Volkswagen’s challenge will be to maintain this demand over time and ensure profitability for the company.
