RTVE has been promoting Benidorm Fest 2023 for months on all channels, on all platforms, on all social networks. The success of the chanelazo in the last edition was well deserved. However, the lack of big names and big bets, such as Rigoberta Bandini, Rayden, Taxungueiras, Chanel…, has not aroused public interest. While in the last edition the first semifinal achieved almost a 12% share and was seen by an average of 1,534,000 viewers, the first semifinal of Benidorm Fest 2023 remains at a 10% share and exceeds by only 44,000 people million viewers.
It is true that this data only corresponds to the linear audience, that is, to the viewers who watched La 1 from their home and that neither the international channel, nor RTVE Play, nor the views on social networks count, but that the great bet de RTVE lose almost two points compared to last year is not good news.
It is true that the first semifinal last night had a somewhat better quota than the one usually set by the public channel at night, but an event with so much promotion and with so much display staying at 10% and almost without reaching one million viewers is not good. News.
A total of 3,222,000 spectators watched at least one minute of Benidorm Fest 2023 during the 120 minutes that the gala lasted. The first semifinal contributed 17% of the audience of La 1 that day.
It must be taken into account that the great audience data is expected in the grand finale. Last year the grand final of the Benidorm Fest had a 21% share, 10 points more than the first semifinal and almost seven more than the second. Will the same happen at Benidorm Fest 2023 or will that lack of interest from the audience also be reflected in the final?
In fact, the first semifinal of the Benidorm Fest tied the screen share with the debate on La isla de las tentaciones 6, which was broadcast at the same time on Telecinco, although it did not reach one million viewers. Neither of them managed to surpass either El Hormiguero, which scored almost a 17% share, or its direct competitor, the Hermanos series, also on Antena 3, which obtained 14.4%.
The age group in which the first semifinal captured the most audience was among men (11.4%) and between the ages of 13 and 24 (16.5%) and between 25 and 44 (18.4%). By age targets, the audience where it worked best was young adults, between 25 and 44 years old. It remained above the average of the program throughout the broadcast. This first gala featured some of the favorites such as Agoney, who was finally the first of the four chosen to go to the final, Fusa Nocta and Alice Wonder. They were joined by Megara, the pink rock band that will also play it in the final. By autonomous communities, the largest audience was in Murcia, with 14%. Above the national average, but without reaching the data for Murcia, in the Valencian Community it was seen by 13.6%, in Castilla y León by 13.4%, in Castilla – La Mancha by 12.3% and in Madrid, where it scored an 11.5% audience share.
For its part, the previous program, broadcast on access time and with the clear intention of waiting for El Hormiguero to finish to start the gala, called La Noche del Benidorm Fest had an audience of 6.8% share of the screen.
