The SNCF had promised it a year ago, it is now done. From August 8, train tickets will be payable in three instalments when their price exceeds 150 euros, the MoneyVox website revealed. This measure comes in the wake of an 8% increase in rail tolls in 2024 which will weigh on ticket prices.
To prevent the already discouraging prices from becoming prohibitive, the SNCF has chosen to apply the policy of payment in three instalments. “The deployment will be done gradually to expand the services and offers offered,” explains SNCF. This split payment is made possible thanks to the French company Alma, a specialist in the process.
Once the split payment has been chosen, the user will be redirected to the Alma site, where he will have to fill in his contact details (telephone number, address, etc.). It will be mandatory to hold a credit card such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Electron, Maestro or Bancontact, valid for at least three months after the date of purchase.
Then, payments take place on date, on D 30 then D 60. On the other hand, the payment facility will not be the responsibility of the SNCF but that of the customer, for an amount of 1.5% of the total value. travel. For the time being, the SNCF ensures that the procedure will be accessible for all types of trains (TER, OUIGO, TGV…) but also for buses. This provided that the price is at least 150 euros.
