Between automatic parking control, radar cars or even the good old roadside radars, the reports have returned to their pre-crisis rhythm, in 2022. If we are to believe our colleagues from Auto-Plus , citing the latest data published by Road Safety, in all, nearly 40 million tickets were issued during the year. And this, with sometimes big differences according to the departments.
If we relate the number of fines to the number of inhabitants, Paris sits at the top of the ranking with 275 fines per 1,000 inhabitants. The podium is completed by two other Ile-de-France departments: Seine-Saint-Denis with 162 PV per 1,000 inhabitants and Val-d’Oise and its 124 fines per 1,000 inhabitants. Another region present in force, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur: the Alpes-Maritimes (96 fines/1,000 inhabitants) and the Bouches-du-Rhône (90 fines/1,000 inhabitants) are in the Top 10 of most punitive departments. Note also the presence of Guadeloupe – in 4? position – with 98 PV drawn up per 1,000 inhabitants.
Conversely, other departments are seeing the number of fines melt like snow in the sun. Thus, between 2017 and 2021, the Parisian PV, the confinements having passed by there, had dropped by 65.4%, according to data from the National Interministerial Observatory for Road Safety. A much stronger drop than the four other departments that appear in the top 5: Vaucluse (-43.8%), Loir-et-Cher (-38.8%), Aube (-37.2% ).
