Renfe will offer this first weekend of August one million seats on nearly 3,000 AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity, Avant and Regional trains, with the aim of facilitating the mobility of travelers in full operation at the end of the summer.

The relationships with the greatest mobility will be those that link Andalusia with Madrid and Catalonia, as well as the Madrid-Galicia, Barcelona-Zaragoza-Madrid routes or the services that connect the entire Mediterranean arc, as reported by Renfe.

In Regional services, some of the routes with the greatest demand are Madrid-Valladolid, A Coruña-Vigo, Valencia-Alicante, Cádiz-Seville or the connections that link Barcelona with the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada.

Renfe defends that the places offered are equivalent to tens of thousands of private vehicles. Since these trains run with electrical energy from renewable sources with a green certificate, “thousands of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere” are avoided on all the journeys.

This device for increasing seats in rail transport contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 13 (climate action), which calls for urgent measures to combat climate change and its effects.
