When you think of British lightweight icons, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Lotus. But now a new brand has emerged on the island, setting its mark in the super-lightweight sports car segment. The name of the company is Nichols and the bolide, which weighs less than 900 kilograms, is called N1A.
Nichols is the name of a new car brand from Great Britain that plans to launch its first production model this year with the N1A – a roofless sports car in the 1960s style.
The N1A is a two-seater that weighs less than 900 kilograms and is based on a lightweight aluminum and carbon chassis that is encased in a close-fitting body that is 99 centimeters flat. For the body parts, customers can choose between panels made of composite material, color-coated carbon or clear-coated visible carbon.
There are also three options for the drive to choose from. The entry-level engine is a 466 hp version of the V8 small block LT1 from General Motors, which is also offered in a performance-enhanced version with 527 hp. Alternatively, there is a seven-liter V8 with 659 hp to choose from. All engine variants are combined with a manual six-speed gearbox. Although the N1A is primarily intended to appeal to track-savvy customers, Nichols will offer it street legal. Prices are not mentioned yet.
