ATLANTIC COUNTY — A 19-year-old Ocean County woman whose infant was injured at a casino nearly two years ago was indicted on a charge of child endangerment, authorities said.

Ashley M. Godfrey’s 2-month daughter had to be flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from Bally’s Hotel and Casino because she was having trouble breathing in a guest room on May 25, 2015, the Atlantic County Prosecutor said in a news release Friday afternoon.

Godfrey was arrested more than 11 months later — April 27, 2016 — at her job in Toms River following an investigation by state, county and local authorities.

The Barnegat resident was also indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault. Each charge carries a maximum penalty 5 to 10 years in prison.

The child has not fully recovered from her injuries, spokesman Jay McKeen said in an email to NJ Advance Media. He said he didn’t know who is caring for the girl now.
