Recent statements made by DaBaby during his performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival have been condemned by artists such as Madonna, Questlove, and Elton John.
The rapper addressed members of the LGBTQ community as well as people living with HIV/AIDS while he was on stage. He used crude language to ask attendees, who were not gay men or affected by HIV/AIDS, to raise their flashlights. He incorrectly stated that the disease would cause death in “two or three weeks.”
DaBaby representatives did not immediately respond to email requests for comment. South Coast Music Group’s representative answered Sunday’s phone and didn’t give his name, but said that he had no comment.
“Rockstar”, a song by the North Carolina rapper, was one of 2020’s biggest hits and was nominated to the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
