Youtube videos from India make Julia and Uttam known to a wide audience. However, the German-Indian couple is having trouble with their neighbors in the city of Jaipur. An argument over dog poop heats up and eventually escalates into violence.
Actually, Julia and Uttam present their hundreds of thousands of YouTube subscribers mainly the beautiful and funny moments of life together in the north Indian metropolis of Jaipur. But the neighborhood dispute in which the German-Indian couple is involved is not only being followed by viewers worldwide, but also by the police.
It all starts with an annoyance that also causes resentment on German soil: dog excrement. Two dogs of the Spitz breed belong to Julia and Uttam’s family. You should be noticed when you go for a walk, because dogs are rather uncommon as pets in India. The other residents of the chic villa complex in the Indian desert city repeatedly accuse the intercultural couple of not properly removing the unpleasant remains left by their dogs. This is reported by the “Times of India”. The influencer couple, on the other hand, feels wrongly accused. And so the dispute keeps escalating.
Insults are said to have come from both sides. Julia accuses a neighbor of attacking her because of her European origins. “What does an English woman do in this country?” he snapped. Julia and Uttam, on the other hand, would not respond to complaints, according to the neighbors. On Saturday, the stress at the garden fence finally escalates.
In a live stream, Julia reports that an angry “mob” is raging in front of her house. Doors and windows were destroyed. “Film the video, it won’t help you, you blackmailers,” shouts an angry voice in the background. The frightened German caught on video trying to alert local police and the German embassy. She also films a wild discussion in the neighborhood. In it, Julia accuses an angry man of attacking her with a hockey stick.
As a result of the tumult, an arrest is made, but on the part of the couple. Uttam was arrested for “deliberately beating a young woman,” says Commissioner Ajay Pal Lamba. Meanwhile, Julia tells the police that the neighbors tried to kill one of their dogs. In the meantime, even diplomats apparently have to deal with the dog excrement affair that got out of hand: According to the police in Jaipur, the German embassy has become involved in the case. Whether the disputed neighbors now want to rely on the negotiating skills of the diplomats is not yet known.
