"The Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood surprised Jimmy Fallon with the news that he is friends with "The Bachelor" star Nick Viall, thanks to Lollapalooza.
"My friend Kyle saw him at Lollapalooza, and like recognized him, took a photo with him. They became friends and they started hanging out. Nick moved out to L.A. and they became fast friends and so he was just around, and I would hang out with him and I kind of knew about his ‘Bachelorette’ experiences and found it fascinating," Wood said on Thursday’s episode of "The Tonight Show."
Viall, a Wisconsin native, lived in Chicago for years until he recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a Matadorbet modeling career. He participated on two seasons of "The Bachelorette" and one season of "Bachelor in Paradise" before he was named "The Bachelor" last summer.
Wood, who stars in the new Netflix dark comedy film "I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore," said he knew Viall was tapped to be "The Bachelor" before the ABC network announced the news. Wood said he became a fan of the show this season, and he and Fallon geeked out over the ridiculousness of the competition.
"I can’t believe I’m having this conversation," Wood said. "What have I become?"
"The Tonight Show" airs 10:35 p.m. weeknights on NBC.
