Surprise during a police operation in Ludwigshafen: When officers want to search an apartment for drugs, they not only find what they are looking for – they also meet two colleagues. For the officials, the private party has an aftermath. She awaits criminal and disciplinary proceedings.
During a police operation in a private apartment in Ludwigshafen, Rhineland-Palatinate, two Hessian officers were found with drugs. As the riot police headquarters in Wiesbaden announced, the two police officers were privately with other people in the apartment. A large quantity of drugs was confiscated during the operation, which took place at the end of June. The police spoke of a “not inconsiderable amount of narcotics”.
In addition, some of those present resisted the police officers deployed. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the two Hessian officers present in the apartment on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Act. In addition, according to the information, one of the police officers is being investigated on suspicion of forgery.
“The Hessian police and the Hessian riot police headquarters take all allegations against police officers very seriously and are pursuing them consistently,” said Malte Neutzler, President of the Hessian riot police headquarters. “First of all, the results of the criminal investigation must be known in order to then be able to assess possible misconduct on the part of the officials.”
Neutzler pointed out that the presumption of innocence applies as long as the misconduct of the officers has not been confirmed. The investigations are being conducted by the public prosecutor’s office in Frankenthal and the Rheinpfalz police headquarters. Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against the two officers, but their investigations have been suspended until the criminal investigations have been completed.
