Why did Gabby leave gymnastics? And where is she now?! Here’s everything you need to know…

Gabby Douglas quit gymnastics because of this.

After two successful Olympic Games stints, Douglas quit training in 2016.

Although she has not yet officially retired, she did not participate in the US Olympic team trials to Tokyo.

Olympians can file paperwork to be removed from a US Anti-Doping Agency testing pool upon their official retirement.

She won two gold medals at the 2012 London Games. However, she failed to win a medal in an individual event.

She was the first African American woman to be crowned the Olympic individual all-around champion.

She was part of the winning Final Five in Rio 2016 with Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez and won the team gold.

Douglas apologised in 2017 for a tweet that she had posted, causing a public rift among the Final Five.

Douglas admitted that she was deeply sorry for saying that women should dress modestly and be classy in order to not attract the “wrong crowd”.

This tweet was in response Aly Raisman, her 2016 teammate, who had revealed that she had been sexually abused by USA Gymnastics doctor Lawrence G Nassar the week prior.

Douglas’s reply prompted Biles, a teammate, to criticize her tweet. She wrote: “Shocking me that I’m actually seeing this, but it doesn’t surprise me…

“Seeing this makes me cry, because I was expecting more from you as a teammate and to support her.

“I support Aly and all the other women out here!” STAY STRONG!”

Gabby Douglas, where are you now?

Douglas was a media star after stepping down from gymnastics. He starred in Kickin It, and Undercover Boss.

Douglas was named the winner of The Masked Dancer in February.

Just before beating Maksim Chmerkovskiy, DWTS-pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Mackenzie Ziegler for her title, the Olympic gold medalist wept.

Gabby performed impressive flips during her last routine to Alicia Keys’ inspirational song, Girl On Fire.
