John Mayer, the singer-songwriter who generates tabloid headlines almost as effortlessly as electric guitar runs, will bring his “The Search for Everything” tour to the AT&T Center on Aug. 3.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 4 at livenation.com, at&tcenter.com, tickemaster.com and by phone at 800-745-3000.

The concert will be broken into three parts, with full band, solo and John Mayer Trio sets.

Mayer’s new album, “The Search for Everything,” is in stores April 14, though he is releasing songs from the album in waves on digital streaming sites ahead of the album release date. Four songs, including the ’70s smooth rock-styled “Still Feel Like Your Man,” came out today.

Mayer’s most popular songs include “Daughters,” “XO,” “Who Says” and “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  He also occasionally makes headlines like a rock star of old, by stepping out with high-profile dates such as Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Love Hewitt and making provocative statements, often about his sex life.
