Man Arrested for NYC Stabbing at Grand Central on Christmas Eve
A man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing incident that occurred at the Grand Central subway station in New York City on Christmas Eve. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that 28-year-old Jason Sargeant, a resident of Brooklyn, was taken into custody for assaulting two individuals in a random attack.
Suspect’s Violent Spree Leaves Two Victims Injured
Police responded to a 911 call at around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, reporting an assault at the 42 Street-Grand Central subway station. The attack resulted in a 26-year-old woman suffering a slash to her neck and a 42-year-old man being slashed on the left wrist. Both victims were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Sargeant allegedly first targeted the male victim on the stairs leading to the southbound entrance of the station, slashing him across the wrist following a dispute. He then went on to confront the female victim near a turnstile, slashing her neck during a subsequent altercation.
Sargeant Faces Multiple Assault Charges
Law enforcement officials recovered a knife at the scene and charged Sargeant with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, and multiple second-degree charges, including menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
Despite the severity of the attacks, both victims are reported to be in stable condition, receiving medical care for their injuries.

The incident has sparked public outrage and criticism, with Governor Kathy Hochul facing backlash for her statements on subway safety following the attack. Hochul’s claims of improved subway safety due to the deployment of the National Guard earlier in the year have drawn criticism for being “tone-deaf” in light of recent events.
Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, condemned Hochul’s response, attributing the incident to lax federal immigration policies and sanctuary jurisdictions. Homan highlighted the need for stricter immigration enforcement to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
