This Tuesday, at 10:50 p.m., Telecinco premieres Me slips. The comedy program, previously broadcast by Antena 3, is back with the producer Shine Iberia and the Asturian Lara Álvarez (37). The presenter of Survivors between 2015 and 2022 seeks to turn her career around and demonstrate her true potential. “In private, I am a joker, a clown. Life is too serious to not have a sense of humor… And being able to mix that fun with the professional, get out of the corseting, of what is correct, is what caught me from this project”, he affirmed in conversation with EL MUNDO.

“For me this program has been like a boom. It has an explosive mix that has allowed me to enjoy each episode. There is a lot of humor, but also a lot of intelligence. You need to know how not to go too far so as not to offend or how not to stay behind so as not to be late to the joke. It’s a great job… It’s been a long time since I enjoyed working so much! Also, there is something very interesting. And that is that everything that happens is real. What happens on the set is transmitted. And when you we say that there is no cheating or cardboard, it is so”, he reveals.

According to Álvarez, the cast of Me slips – made up of Florentino Fernández, Santiago Segura, Anabel Alonso, Edu Soto, Lorena Castell, Paz Padilla, Juan Dávila, JJ Vaquero, Paula Púa, Aníbal Gómez, Raúl Gómez, Josep Ferré, Cristóbal Soria, María Zurita and Xavier Deltell- is “ideal” for this type of program. The reason? His capacity for improvisation and histrionics, which allows the public to “live” what is seen on their screens: the laughter, the nerves and even the sensations caused by some of the tests. “There is a chair that rotates… And, as a fact, I’ll tell you that we recorded after eating. When I get on it, I think I’m going to vomit,” explains Álvarez.

Lara does not hide that she is happy, and that much is due to her new facet of work, far from the Cayos Cochinos and Survivors, a program she resigned from in November 2022. “I spent eight years there and it was a brutal apprenticeship. But it was beginning to need an evolution because there are priorities that keep changing. When your life stops for four months, you go to another country with a time difference and that is repeated for so many years, ugh… I couldn’t spend time with my parents, I wasn’t with my dogs and leaving my responsibilities to others. That’s why I left the program,” he confesses.

“When I stopped the project, a lot of people told me I was crazy because it was a successful show. But I wanted that change and I knew it had to come from me. And thank God I had the courage to put an end to something that has affected me.” made me very happy… But I needed a new phase. And this program is giving me happiness and achieving the harmony that I was looking for. Now I have the possibility of having a job that makes me feel fulfilled and that I enjoy at the hand of my parents, my dogs, my friends and in my house,” he says with a big smile.

Lara also takes the opportunity to deny the rumors that suggested, after her resignation, that she was going to leave television. “I didn’t want to get away from the screen at all. For me, communication is a passion and it’s lucky to work at Mediaset because I feel like home. There was speculation that I wanted to leave, but I simply couldn’t pronounce myself. I had to do it in the correct way, with the times that are handled in the chain and I couldn’t get ahead of myself”, he indicates.

“I feel that Me slips has been a little gift. Now we just need to see the reception of the public, see how they react. But I swear that more than the audience, what matters to us is that people laugh and to be able to convey how fun it has been for we make this program. If that happens, it has already been worth it. On the other hand, I also hope that the public can understand that I can be in a program like this. Of course I feel the weight of having a predecessor like Arturo Valls. But I have worked so that the real Lara is seen, and I think that the viewer manages to perceive that authenticity”, he mentions.

On the other hand, Álvarez also dares to talk about the change in Mediaset’s grid and his plans to make television more family-friendly. “I think that is something that is needed now. When I think about what motivated me to dedicate myself to communication, I think about how, when I was a child, television was the perfect excuse to meet with your family. It was a moment of togetherness that I think that over time it has been lost… But it can be recovered! You can win again with formats like Me resbala. Children are fans of this program and parents can rest easy, because they know that their children can enjoy this kind of humour”, he concludes.
