The Shrewsbury Comic Con is back and better than ever, with an exciting ‘spooky’ lineup for the upcoming event on Sunday, October 6th. This year, the Shrewsbury Town Football Club will be transformed into a pop culture hub, offering fans of all ages a day filled with interactive fun and immersive experiences.
VIP Guests to Look Out For
One of the highlights of the event is the appearance of Canadian voiceover artist Matt Hill, known for his role as Ed in the animated series Ed, Edd n Eddy. Horror fans will be thrilled to meet Craig David Dowsett and Amber Doig-Thorne, stars of the cult horror film Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey. Attendees can also look forward to meeting Willie Coppen, famous for his role as an Ewok in Return of the Jedi, who will be joined by his son, actor and comedian George Coppen.
Celebrated Comic Artists and Writers
Comic book enthusiasts will not be disappointed with the impressive guest list. Marvel and DC comic artist Mike Perkins, a Shrewsbury resident, will be showcasing his award-winning work. M.R. Carey, novelist and co-creator of the Lucifer comics, will also be in attendance. Fans of 2000AD and Judge Dredd can meet Patrick Goddard, whose concept art helped develop the Thirteenth Doctor’s costume in Doctor Who. Mike Collins, known for his work with Marvel, DC, and Doctor Who, will also be present.
Activities and Workshops for All Ages
In addition to meeting special guests, attendees can enjoy a variety of interactive activities throughout the day. Board game enthusiasts can head to the gaming area hosted by NERDY, while The Shropshire Dungeon Master will run games for players. Cosplayers can participate in the cosplay competition sponsored by DVDMegaStore. Adaptive Gaming will set up a gaming marquee with various consoles and virtual reality experiences. Manga drawing workshops and a comic book publishing seminar will also be available for those interested in the creative side of comics.
Iconic Vehicles and Cosplay Groups
Fans will have the opportunity to see famous vehicles up close, such as the Jurassic Park Jeep and Lightning McQueen. The Preston City Ghostbusters will offer an interactive experience, and cosplay groups like The East Midlands Garrison will be fundraising for PASIC, a charity supporting children with cancer.
Getting There and Tickets
For those coming from out of town, a free minibus service will be available to shuttle attendees to and from Shrewsbury Railway Station. Discounted admission tickets can be purchased online until October 3rd, with tickets also available at the door. Cash and card payments will be accepted.
