Adrian Appiolaza showcased his Spring 2025 Moschino Women’s Fashion collection in Milan, which was a fusion of various fashion tribes and styles. Unlike other designers this season, Appiolaza aimed to cater to a broader range of characters with different fashion tastes, moving away from the trend of focusing on a single memorable silhouette or fashion message.
The runway was filled with a variety of looks, from bustier gowns made from white bedsheets as a nod to Moschino’s founder, Franco Moschino, known for his wit and humor in fashion. The collection featured elements of punk, grunge, bourgeois ladies, cowboys, and bikers, along with classic Moschino motifs like polka dots, smiley faces, and playful Italian references.
One of the standout moments was a little black dress adorned with plastic tagging barbs instead of feathers, symbolizing a commentary on hyperinflation in luxury fashion. Another eye-catching piece was a puffer jacket made from mismatched throw cushions, adding a touch of whimsy to the collection.
Appiolaza explained that his inspirations came from his fashion years in London, where he was influenced by subcultures documented in magazines like The Face and i-D. Collaborations with Terry Jones and the estate of Judy Blame added graphic phrases and DIY sensibility to the collection, creating a unique blend of styles and ideas.
While his debut Moschino show focused on solid wardrobe essentials, this collection leaned more towards conceptual designs and creative ideas. Moving forward, Appiolaza aims to strike a balance between wearable pieces and innovative concepts in his future collections. With his diverse range of influences and bold vision, it will be exciting to see how he continues to push the boundaries of fashion and creativity in the seasons to come.
