A man in Lower Saxony is the victim of a knife attack. Although employees of a pizzeria intervene and the police are quickly on the spot, he dies on the way to the hospital. The suspected perpetrator has already been arrested.

A 32-year-old man was killed in a knife attack in Lower Saxony. After an argument in front of a pizzeria in Neustadt am Rübenberge, Lower Saxony, the perpetrator stabbed the victim with a knife. A 44-year-old woman was injured in the attack in the evening and taken to a hospital, said a spokesman for the Hanover police department. The alleged 21-year-old perpetrator was overpowered by emergency services and arrested.

The attacked man was able to save himself after the attack in the pizzeria, the police said. The perpetrator followed him there. However, when he entered the restaurant, he was overpowered and detained by the staff.

A patrol car crew who happened to be nearby also rushed to the pizzeria because they heard screams. Meanwhile, the seriously injured man fled further – but collapsed in front of the restaurant. He reportedly died while being transported to a hospital.

It was initially unclear why the men had clashed and how the 44-year-old was involved in the dispute. It was also not known in the evening whether the victim and the alleged perpetrator knew each other. The police are investigating a homicide.
