The Barcelona Court has agreed to seize any income that Rosa Peral and Albert López, those convicted of the so-called “Crime of the Urban Police”, may collect from Netflix for their image rights in the broadcast of the series ‘The Body in flames’, inspired by that murder.
As reported by judicial sources, the court has accepted the request of the lawyer for the private prosecution filed by the relatives of the agent who was murdered so that the convicted persons cannot collect from the platform until they are paid the nearly 800,000 euros in compensation that they received. set the sentence.
Rosa Peral and Albert López, who were urban guards in Barcelona, ??were sentenced, respectively, to 25 and 20 years in prison for murdering her partner, also an agent of the force, in May 2017, within the framework of a love triangle. .
The crime has inspired a series and a documentary – ‘The Ribbons of Rosa’ – that has been broadcast on the Netflix platform for a few days, which led the convicted woman to file a financial claim for the image rights.
Peral also tried unsuccessfully to have a court in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) paralyze the premiere of the series, which was finally broadcast on September 8.
Rosa Peral asked the court to “kidnap” the series about the crime in order to be able to watch it, as a preliminary step to the possible filing of a lawsuit regarding the right to honor, personal and family privacy and one’s own image, which would go directed against Arcadia Motion Pictures S.L. as defendant and against the platform Netflix Servicios de Transmisiones España S.L, as co-defendant.
