In the Austrian Zillertal three skiers have an accident in the same place. For a 28-year-old from the Netherlands, any help comes too late. Her companion and a German come to a hospital with serious injuries.
A Dutch woman had a fatal accident while skiing in the Zillertal in Tyrol on New Year’s Day. The 28-year-old fell on a steep slope on the Hintertux Glacier, broke through a safety fence, went over the edge of the slope and crashed into a tree without braking. She suffered fatal injuries. She died at the scene of the accident, a police spokesman for the APA news agency said. Her 27-year-old companion also fell and was seriously injured.
About half an hour later, a 55-year-old German fell in the same place and also suffered serious injuries. Like the injured Dutchwoman, she was flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. Police are investigating how the falls happened.
