Bill Paxton, who appeared in films such as “Titanic” and “Aliens,” died on Saturday, according to multiple published reports. He was 61. 

A statement from the family posted on several entertainment websites says Paxton died from complications due to surgery. 

“Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable,” the statement says. 

Paxton was married to Louise Newbury for 30 years and had two children. 

He held roles in “Titanic,” “Apollo 13” and “Aliens,” and most recently played Detective Frank Rourke in the new television series “Training Day.”
