“She said yes”: With these words, US comedian Dane Cook announced his engagement to his girlfriend Kelsi Taylor last week. This was actually good news, but it sparked a discussion in the days that followed.
After reports wrote that Cook had proposed to his “longtime girlfriend,” a number of social media users asked, How long have the two been together? After all, the age difference is significant. Cook is 50, Taylor is only 23. So if the relationship lasted longer than five years, Taylor would have been a minor to begin with.
In fact, Cook and Taylor were locked on Instagram in April 2017. At that time, the singer was already 18 years old. However, getting to know each other took place a year earlier, as Cook said in an Instagram question and answer session. Friendship became love, the comedian explained to his fans and also emphasized that the two only became a couple when Taylor was of legal age.
Nevertheless, the criticism of the comedian does not stop, because more and more details are coming to light. Journalist Tracie Egan Morrissey took on the story and used the past weekend to do her own research. With the help of Instagram, she found out that Cook regularly hosts game nights with his known friends. Always present there: underage girls.
Through her Instagram research, Morrissey found out that Taylor was 17 when she first attended one of the game nights. And she was far from the only one. In almost every photo taken at the regular “Game Nights”, the journalist discovered at least one underage girl, one of them even as young as 14.
On April 16, 2016, then 16-year-old actress Joey King – who is starring opposite Brad Pitt in that year’s ‘Bullet Train’ – attended Cook’s party. In her online research, Morrissey emphasized that none of the young women today follow the comedian on Instagram, and neither does he. So there can hardly be any talk of deep friendships. So far, Dane Cook has not commented on the journalist’s research.
