After aligning with the sectors ‘anti Teddy’, the author of ‘Corazón partío’ changed sides in the face of the elections of the entity, which will be held this Friday.
Teddy Bautista: “I don’t want to pay SGAE”
Alejandro Sanz has given its support to the candidacy of Teddy Bautista for election to the board of directors of the General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE) that will be held this Friday. According to sources close to the author of ‘Corazón partío’, it has contacted with the former president of the board of management of the entity, has offered him their vote in the elections, and has placed at his disposal for his campaign.
The movement of Sanz arrives after it has been aligned with several of the sectors most ‘anti Teddy’ of SGAE. In 2012, a year after the start of the ‘Operation ‘ Saga’ and the arrest of the Baptist in the framework of the same, the singer Moratalaz supported publicly the candidacy of Anton Reixa, whose program included the withdrawal of the pension Teddy. Reixa won the election with a first statement (“what Teddy Bautista? I don’t know of whom I speak. That is why he passed early this morning. We ended up using the plates self-centered and flawed in the past. The change in the SGAE has no turning back”) and a first measure: the withdrawal of that pension.
Baptist she brought a lawsuit in the courts by the pension while Reixa was losing support in the board of directors of SGAE that he was presiding over. Shortly before the dismissal of the leader of Os Resentful to the front of the entity, Alejandro Sanz has signed with other musicians, and creators a letter of support to the Reixa. Not served to nothing: barely a year after his electoral victory, was dismissed. Teddy eventually ended up winning and got back his pension in 2014.
After the three-year term of José Luis Acosta (2013-2016), marked by the internecine strife, came the presidency of José Miguel Fernández Sastrón, who began his mandate in 2016. During this, there was a new scandal in the form of another court case: the reference to the ‘Wheel’ of the televisions on the rights of author on musical spaces issued early in the morning. On this occasion, Alejandro Sanz joined Patacho Recio, ex-Glutamato Ye Ye and also fierce opposition to Teddy.
through Coalition Authorial (CoA), Patacho has promoted different actions against those musicians who are in favor of the exploitation of their repertoire in conjunction with the television networks. These included Diego ‘El Cigala’, Victor Manuel, Hevia o Huecco, among others. At the end of 2017, Sanz signed a manifesto, along with other musicians like Rosendo and Amaral, against the use of “fraudulent” of the entity. One of the arguments most repeated against the ‘Wheel’ was that, thanks to her, there was a group of authors who managed payouts several times higher than those of Alejandro Sanz. It would even report to the entity.
the former minister of The PP, José María Michavila, a close friend of Alejandro Sanz, provides legal support to the Coalition as author through his law firm, MA Lawyers (who also legally represent Shakira and Sanz) in their actions. The collective that leads Patacho has repeatedly requested the intervention of the SOCIETY by the ministry of Culture. In addition, several of their authors were presented to these elections and, a day before the start of the campaign, dropped out and did not recognize the validity of the elections. However, CoA used the tools for communications of candidates with partners to call for the boycott of the elections. The question that then arises is: what will think the old shipmates of Alejandro Sanz after this change of course?
