The announcement will come as a surprise as the television channel schedules for the 2023-2024 season have been set for several months. Bruce Toussaint, one of BFM-TV’s star journalists, will join TF1 to host a new daily morning show at the beginning of next year. Currently at the helm of “Live Toussaint” from 9 a.m. to noon on the 24-hour news channel, “Bruce Toussaint will present a daily morning reception from Monday to Friday,” TF1 announced in a press release.

This new program “will see a succession of information editions, sections on daily life, culture, the art of living and major trends”, specifies the channel, owned by the Bouygues group. “Surrounded by a new team of columnists, [Bruce Toussaint] will rely on the network of regional correspondents to be as close as possible to viewers and their daily lives,” it is added.

Quoted in the press release, the deputy general director of information for the TF1 group, Thierry Thuillier, welcomed the arrival of “a very great journalist who will be able to give the necessary impetus” to a “new meeting » supposed to “strengthen the close bond with the public”.

This is the third star journalist that BFM-TV has lost this season, after Jean-Baptiste Boursier, who left to host the morning show on LCI, the TF1 group’s news channel, and Aurélie Casse, recruited by France 5 for the show “ C the weekly.” Still far ahead in the ranking of news channels, the Altice group channel, joined at the start of the school year by Laurent Ruquier, has however seen the gap narrow with its competitors CNews and LCI in recent months.
