The return of the diva. Celine Dion announced this Thursday the release of new songs, her first since the Canadian singer announced in December that she had a rare neurological condition. The new album, Love Again, is the soundtrack to the film of the same name and contains five new songs as well as older hits. It will be released on May 12, alongside the film in Canadian theaters.
This is the first album since Courage in 2019 from the Quebec star, who also appears on the poster of this romantic comedy.
“I had a lot of fun making this movie. And having the privilege of appearing alongside talented actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan in my very first feature film is a gift I will cherish forever,” Celine Dion said in a statement. “I think it’s a wonderfully heartwarming story, and I hope people like it and the new songs,” the singer added.
In a video of almost five minutes posted in December, Celine Dion, visibly very moved, announced the postponement of the European dates of her tour and said that she had been experiencing “health problems for a long time”. “Recently, I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder,” she explains.
This disorder, which is characterized in particular by progressive muscle rigidity, causes Celine Dion to have difficulty walking and prevents her from “using (her) vocal cords” as she would like. “We don’t know everything about this rare disease yet, but we now know that it is the cause of the muscle spasms that I suffer from,” she continues.
Her tour, titled “Courage World Tour”, began in 2019 and the singer performed the first 52 concerts before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020. The superstar then announced that she was canceling the Northeast leg. American on this tour because of her health problems.
