HOLLYWOOD — After admitting to the crime, a Florida man was accused of beating a pitbull puppy, stabbing it 50 more times, and then stuffing it in a suitcase. The dog was still breathing. He will spend 10 years prison.
According to Michael Gottlieb, Evans’ lawyer, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Brendan Evans, 35 of Hollywood, pleaded guilty to the crime four years after Ollie, the pit bull, was attacked. Two days after its discovery, the dog died.
International outcry erupted after the Ollie was attacked. The newspaper reported that Evans initially denied involvement. However, investigators discovered cat paws, rats and bloodstains in Evans’ freezer. He also had blood stains in his bathroom. They also found animal fur and blood in Evans’ oven.
Since his arrest four years back, Evans has been in prison. Gottlieb stated that Evans was originally charged with 17 counts for animal cruelty, but the prosecutors dropped 15 of those charges in exchange for his guilty plea.
