In the era of internet it is not enough to inform. Readers need help to defend yourself against the onslaught of misinformation, lies and false rumors that are flooding the networks, especially at election time, and some of the mainstream american media are doing.
In his column Tuesday in the New York Times, critic Kevin Roose remembered some of the fabricated stories, misleading advertisements, false rumors, fabricated images, videos, manipulated, and text messages aimed at deterring vote to those who know that the supporters of the opponent.

The republicans only trust in two: Fox and the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The more believable the two sides are, by this order, PBS, the AP, NPR and the WSJ.
The problem is complex and comes from far away, but, as noted by Marvin Kalb in the presentation of his latest book, Enemy of the People, October 15, at the Brookings institution in Washington, Trump has gotten that “31% of americans today consider the media the enemy of the people”, the same term used by Khrushchev in the historic congress of the CPSU in 1956 to denounce the methods of Stalin against all its enemies, real or imagined.
