Susanna Reid was the youngest of three children and was born in Croydon in South London in 1970.
When she was nine years old, her mother, a nurse and father, a manager consultant, split.
As an adolescent Susanna attended Croham Hurst School in Croydon, Croydon High School, and St Paul’s Girl’s School. There she displayed signs that she wanted to be an actress.
She was part of several stage productions, including Agatha Christie’s Spider’s Web in 1982 with Shirley Anne Field, and in The Price, Channel 4 1985 alongside Harriet Walter and Peter Markworth.
Her acting career didn’t take off, so Susanna decided to study Philosophy and Politics at Bristol University. She was the editor of Epigram, a student newspaper.
Television presenter and host of The Tonight Show is a strong supporter of many charities, including Media Trust which links charities to the media industry.
Before she was a Breakfast News reporter, she worked in Sri Lanka for three months as a volunteer media consultant for a charity that assisted victims of civil war and operated orphanages and other social development programs.
Susanna, in addition to her busy job, is a keen fitness fanatic. She took part in the London Marathon in 2012 to raise funds for Sports Relief.
