The former goalkeeper of the US national soccer team, Hope Solo (40), has to go to prison for 30 days. The two-time Olympic gold medalist pleaded guilty to driving her car while under the influence of alcohol earlier this year, reports ABC News. The sentence also includes 24 months probation and a fine of around $3,100.

The specific sentence was reduced from 60 to 30 days because Hope had previously voluntarily entered a rehab clinic for this period. Solo has already published a long post on her official Instagram account in which she shows herself purified. “I made a huge mistake. By far the worst mistake of my life. I underestimated what a destructive part of my life alcohol had become.”

Nevertheless, she could draw something positive from the matter: “Making such a serious mistake lets you learn the hard lessons all the faster.” She therefore vows to “grow from these experiences.”

The case also caused a stir at the end of March 2022 because the star’s two-year-old twins were also in the car. Solo was arrested at the time on three counts: drunk driving, resisting law enforcement and child abuse.

Solo was said to have been unconscious behind the wheel of her running car for over an hour due to alcohol consumption. Because the children of the ex-athlete were unsupervised in the back seat during this time, the police also investigated child abuse. According to “ABC News”, only drunk driving was punished.
