Happy Birthday Prince George! The son of Prince William (40) and Duchess Kate (40) celebrates his ninth birthday this Friday (July 22). As with all their children’s birthdays, the parents have released a new portrait of their eldest son – shot by mom Kate herself.
“George turns 9!” It says under the photo. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photo of Prince George ahead of his ninth birthday tomorrow,” the statement read.
Prince George can be seen in the photo during a family vacation at the beach and grins friendly at the camera. The future heir to the throne not only looks very similar to his father Prince William because of his light blue polo shirt.
In recent years, Duchess Kate has photographed her son every year for his birthday. Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a photo of George in a striped polo shirt, seated in a green Range Rover of the kind Prince Philip (1921-2021) loved to drive.
For the ninth birthday of Prince George, there are some changes for the number three in the line of succession to the British throne. The upcoming move of his family from London to Windsor, around 40 kilometers away, should mean a change of school for George and his sister Princess Charlotte (7).
In 2022, George and his siblings Charlotte and Prince Louis (4) were already attracting a lot of attention: For example, on the jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (96), when they drove to the parade with Duchess Kate and Duchess Camilla (75) in a carriage and waved to the crowd. Only recently, the sports enthusiast George accompanied his parents to the final of the tennis tournament in Wimbledon.
