Judith Godrèche, who filed a complaint against directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for sexual and physical violence dating back to her adolescence, will be heard in the Senate on Thursday February 29. The actress must be received from 9 a.m. by the delegation for women’s rights and equal opportunities between men and women, according to the institution. The hearing will be broadcast on Public Senate.
“Hearing her testimony is important, because the members of the delegation are working to ensure that the situations of violence against minors that she describes no longer happen and are punished,” declared the president of the delegation and senator, Dominique Vérien, on this channel. (Centrist Union).
The courts opened an investigation into “rape of a minor under 15 years old by a person in authority, rape, violence by a partner, and sexual assault on a minor over 15 years old by a person in authority”, entrusted to the minor protection brigade, for facts which allegedly took place between 1986 and 1992. The two filmmakers deny these accusations.
“The crushing of speech”
By denouncing after decades of silence these facts which allegedly occurred from her meeting with Benoît Jacquot when she was 14, Judith Godrèche has in recent weeks become a spokesperson for the Metoo of French cinema.
She denounces the “omerta” and “crushing of speech” in the face of control and sexual violence, and has created an email address to collect other testimonies from potential victims.
