American megastar Taylor Swift and Colombian artist Shakira lit up the 2023 vintage of the MTV Video Music Awards, Tuesday evening, September 12, near New York.
Taylor Swift won no less than four awards at the MTV VMAs: best song, best pop music, best direction and best music video for her hit Anti-Hero.
“It’s incredible,” the multimillionaire superstar told tens of millions of followers on social media, accepting the most important prize of the evening, that of best music video, which she had already won in 2022.
Another star of the year, the artist Shakira, aged 46, won the “Video Vanguard” prize, which rewards innovations in the audiovisual recording industry.
Wearing a long, sparkling dress, the Colombian singer ended her performance by taking a walkabout to a platform that raised her above the audience. “Thanks to MTV. Thank you for playing such an important role in my career since I was 18,” she exclaimed.
