The Lollapalooza Paris festival announced, Thursday March 7, the cancellation of its 2024 edition, which is traditionally held in July, highlighting “logistical, administrative and security constraints which are increasingly strong”, while looming the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11).
On It therefore meets the public in July 2025, for its next edition.
The cultural events of summer 2024 have been facing uncertainties for a year and a half, due to the strong mobilization of law enforcement for the Paris Games.
As early as October 2022, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, had in fact aroused incomprehension in the sector by evoking the need for cultural events in the summer of 2024 to be “cancelled or postponed”.
Since the end of 2022, a framework has been defined and major festivals, such as Vieilles Charrues or Rock en Seine, have been protected. Except Lollapalooza Paris, which was to take place at the same time as the opening ceremony.
Other live performance events, such as the Avignon Festival, have brought forward their dates by a week compared to their usual.
