US President Joe Biden (79) is now feeling the first corona symptoms again after receiving a rebound diagnosis on Saturday (July 30). But his doctor, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, in an official health update, assures that vital signs are “completely normal”.
O’Connor announced on Tuesday afternoon: Biden has “a loose cough”. However, the President is “fever-free” and has “promising vital signs”. Specifically, the letter to the President’s staff continues: “His temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation remain completely normal.” In addition, his lungs are free.
The president first tested positive for the coronavirus on July 21 after not feeling well the night before. After two vaccinations and two boosters, his symptoms were mild and within five days he was clear of the virus with the help of Paxlovid treatment.
However, what is known as “rebound COVID” can occur with treatment with Paxlovid, and O’Connor stated at the time his intention to keep the President under close surveillance should the virus return. That was the case on Saturday. As of Tuesday, Biden had not felt any symptoms since the virus returned.
Biden will remain in strict isolation until his test comes back negative, and he will be monitored regularly to quickly identify any possible deterioration. Meanwhile, he continues to work as planned, albeit remotely at the White House.
