Gov. Cuomo’s popularity hit a two-year high among New York voters, according to a Siena poll released Monday morning.
Sixty percent of respondents said they viewed the governor favorably and 50 percent said he’s doing a good job, while the majority of those polled viewed President Trump unfavorably, with only 29 percent of New Yorkers saying the nation’s new leader is doing a good job.
The results mark the first time Cuomo’s job approval ratings have been positive since July 2014 and his highest favorability marks since January 2015.
“Voters like Cuomo more now than at any time since his second term began,” said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg. “Maybe it’s because they like his 2017 agenda, or perhaps it’s a comparison with the President, or it might simply be because it’s been quiet the last few months on the corruption front. Whatever the reason, Cuomo is riding high with New Yorkers right now.”
Cuomo’s agenda is popular among New Yorkers, with 77 percent of respondents supporting his millionaire’s tax, 76 percent backing ride-sharing and 58 percent saying they support free public college tuition for families earning under $125,000.
Sixty-five percent of respondents support doubling a middle class child care tax credit for families earning between $60,000 and $100,000.
