A Virginia mother was arrested and charged after recently carrying a loaded handgun into Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport while transporting her children to their gate.
The woman, who was not identified other than being a resident of Leesburg, Va. in Loudoun County, was charged Friday while carrying the loaded handgun past a security checkpoint, the Transportation Security Administration said Monday. She was not ticketed to fly, the TSA said.
The woman was carrying a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun with six bullets in her handbag, TSA officials said. She told them she forgot she was carrying the gun.
The weapon was confiscated and the woman was arrested on state weapons charges, according to the TSA.
