CLEVELAND, Ohio — Atmospheric instability from a passing low pressure system and cold front are producing strong thunderstorms across Ohio tonight. With strong southerly winds dragging in even more warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, this will strengthen already existent storms up to a possibly severe level.
As of 8:30 p.m., the following counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch through 2 a.m. Saturday, meaning wind gusts up to 58 mph with possible hail could accompany these storms.

A severe thunderstorm watch means the environment is conducive to breed severe thunderstorms, but they are not on-going. Once a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the dangerous conditions are imminent, and you should seek shelter immediately.
For the most up-to-date information on this watch, or to see if your county has been upgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning, check out the National Weather Service in Cleveland’s website.
