During his Tuesday night address to a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump spoke about his priorities – increasing defense spending, replacing the nation’s aging infrastructure and building a wall along the border with Mexico.
But the speech offered no details as to how he intends to pay for those initiatives. Will he propose making cuts to other programs? Will he propose to raise taxes? Will he try to do both? Or will he try to borrow the money?
For the sake of debate, let’s assume that the people who disagree with the priorities will not be able to persuade the president to change his mind. What, then, would be your preference for paying for all of these big-ticket plans?
Join us from noon to 1:30 p.m. today for a constructive conversation about how best to pay for a boost to the military, new infrastructure, and the wall. Comments will be reviewed by a moderator before they are published.
