GLASSBORO — Rowan University Police and Public Safety identified and arrested three suspects in the armed robbery that left one Rowan student injured in early February.

Three suspects —  two minors, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, and 28-year-old Zhyace Gilmore — were arrested on Friday for the armed robbery that took place on Rowan’s campus on February 5.

Michael Kantner, assistant vice poresident of public safety and emergency Management, said the investigation was exhaustive with Rowan Police officers Kevin Fennal and Greg Farrar conducting “good, old-fashioned police work,” conducting interviews and “hitting the pavement” to gather information on the assault.

Kantner added that all four of the original suspects reported to have been in the sedan the night of the armed robbery were identified but the three arrested and charged were the ones allegedly responsible for the act.

The three, all of Sicklerville, were charged with multiple criminal counts. The 16-year-old was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm on a college university and theft. The 17-year-old was charged with robbery by force, conspiracy, theft, credit card theft, simple assault and defiant trespassing. Gilmore was charged with robbery by force, conspiracy, theft and simple assault.

None of the suspects were Rowan University students.

The armed robbery happened on February 5 around 8:40 p.m. outside of Winans Hall. According to previous reports, two male students were approached by four males in a Sedan. After the suspects allegedly brandished a gun and demanded money, one of the students was reportedly hit on the head with what he believed was a handgun.

The student was checked out and released shortly after the incident.
