As a replacement for Russian long-range weapons, Russia is said to be increasingly using Iranian kamikaze drones. However, these are being intercepted more and more effectively by Ukraine, reports the British secret service. The drones are actually quite easy to shoot down.

According to British secret services, Ukraine is increasingly successfully defending itself against Russian attacks with Iranian drones. The drones are slow, noisy and deployed at low altitudes, making them fairly easy to shoot down, the UK Defense Ministry’s daily briefing on Twitter said.

According to official Ukrainian figures, up to 85 percent of the attacks are intercepted. Moscow would deploy more and more kamikaze drones to penetrate Ukraine’s increasingly effective air defenses. The Russian military is said to be using the combat drones as a replacement for Russian long-range precision weapons, which are becoming increasingly rare, the British said.

The British Ministry of Defense has published daily information on the course of the war since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine at the end of February, citing intelligence information. In doing so, the British government wants to both counter the Russian portrayal and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a targeted disinformation campaign.
