“Bachelor” fans already know who the Season 13 “Bachelorette” will be, but those associated with the franchise have yet another trick up their sleeves.
On Sunday, executive producer Mike Fleiss revealed tentative plans to make a “historic” announcement related to the ABC dating series. He said he was “almost certain” he’d be sharing the news during the 2017 Oscars, which were hosted by “The Bachelor” super fan Jimmy Kimmel. An hour later Fleiss said the announcement had been bumped and fortunately so.
TMZ reported that a prop fell on the stage he and “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison were to appear on. No one was hurt during the incident, which took place during rehearsals, but a camera was damaged. Fleiss said he would be making his “giant” announcement on Monday instead. He urged viewers to tune in to Season 21, episode 9 of “The Bachelor” for his news.
It’s not clear what Fleiss’ “Bachelor” announcement could be. On Feb. 13, well before Season 21 came to a close, contestant Rachel L. appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to tell fans she’d been chosen as the next “Bachelorette.” Fans were thrilled for Rachel L., but felt it spoiled some of Nick Viall’s season. Many thought Rachel L. was going to win given the chemistry between she and “The Bachelor” star.
Whatever the news, it’s going to have to be pretty big if Fleiss plans to try an eclipse what’s going down during Monday’s episode of “The Bachelor.” Last week Nick headed home with his final four for hometown dates and now they’re off to Finland for fantasy suite week. Previews for the episode show Nick stressing about the dates, reliving his past heartbreaks and questioning his decision to appear on “The Bachelor” at all.
